Emirates NBA Cup 2024: Overview and Key Details  

 

The Emirates NBA Cup 2024 is the NBA's second in-season competition. It began on November 12, 2024, and will conclude with the Semifinals (December 14) and Championship (December 17) at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

 

Group Play (Nov. 12 – Dec. 3):

All 30 NBA teams are split into six groups of five (three per conference) based on 2023-24 win-loss records. Each team plays four games, two at home and two away. Standings determine the top team in each group, plus two wild cards (one per conference) advancing to the Knockout Rounds.

 

Knockout Rounds (Dec. 10 – 17):

Eight teams play single-elimination games, culminating in the Championship. The Quarterfinals take place in team markets, while the Semifinals and Championship are neutral-site games in Las Vegas.

 

East Group A: Orlando Magic leads with a 2-0 record (+37 point differential). A decisive game against the New York Knicks (Dec. 3) is likely to determine the group winner.

 

East Group B: Detroit Pistons remain unbeaten but face tough games against the Milwaukee Bucks and Indiana Pacers.

 

East Group C: Atlanta Hawks surprised with a 2-0 start but must fend off the Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics.

 

West Group A: Houston Rockets lead with a +21 point differential after defeating the LA Clippers.

 

West Group B: LA Lakers and Oklahoma City Thunder are on track for a pivotal clash on Nov. 29.

 

West Group C: Golden State Warriors lead their group, while the Denver Nuggets need a rebound to stay in contention.

Moritz Wagner (Orlando Magic): His dynamic play has powered Orlando’s unbeaten start.

Tournament Honors and Prizes

 

The Emirates NBA Cup includes a prize pool for players advancing to the Knockout Rounds. Additionally, the MVP and All-Tournament Team will be selected based on performances throughout the competition.
