Today's major headline covers Panama's victory in the 2024 Concacaf Futsal Championship, where they defeated Cuba 4-3 in a thrilling final. This win marks Panama's first time lifting the championship trophy, with standout performances from players like Alfonso Maquensi and goalkeeper Jaime Peñaloza.
Having lost 3-2 to Cuba in their final group game, Panama completed a payback at a crucial time to secure their maiden Concacaf futsal title. The match details showcase Panama's journey to victory, including goals by Ruman Milord, Harold Aquilera, Aquiles Campos, and Claudio Goodridge. Panama's resilience and strategic plays, led to their historic win.
In the third place match, Guatemala secured third place by defeating Costa Rica 3-0. Their amazing young goal keeper Kevin Rueda kept a clean sheet to ensure Guatemala defeats the past winners and end the tournament with a title, their fifth in five consecutive concacaf Championship. Guatemala is the only team to have done that.

Jaime Peñaloza was recognized as the Best Goalkeeper of the tournament for his play with champions Panama. He stood out in the final for helping Panama emerge victorious in the close encounter.
Marvin Sandoval from Guatemala claimed the Top Scorer Award sponsored by Qatar Airways, scoring seven goals throughout the tournament. Kevin Rueda, a goalkeeper from Cuba, won the Young Player Award sponsored by ARAMCO, displaying remarkable composure despite his young age. Additionally, Panama was awarded the Fair Play Award for their exemplary conduct during the tournament.
