The Atlas Lions of Morocco began their TotalEnergies CAF Futsal AFCON 2024 journey with a resounding 5-2 victory against Angola at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Hall. Despite an early goal from Helber Garcia for Angola, Morocco quickly regained control with Idriss Raiss El Fenni's equalizer and then took the lead through Soufian Charraoui's goal before halftime.
Charraoui continued his stellar performance in the second half, completing a hat trick and securing Morocco's win with a commanding performance. Anas El Ayyane also contributed with a goal, showcasing Morocco's experience and skill on the field.
Angola displayed resilience throughout the match, creating scoring opportunities, but Morocco's defense led by Abdelkrim Anbia proved too strong to break through consistently. The match ended with Angola scoring a late consolation goal, highlighting their determination despite the result.
With this victory, Morocco joins Zambia at the top of their group who defeated Ghana 5-2 in their opening maych, setting the stage for an exciting upcoming match against Zambia. The atmosphere at the sold-out Prince Moulay Abdellah Hall was electric, reflecting the passion and excitement of Futsal AFCON 2024.
Today, 12th of April, two former champions Egypt and Libya take each other on before debutants Namibia and Mauritania compete to mark the start of Group B.
