Zambia made a strong return to the TotalEnergies CAF Futsal Africa Cup with an impressive 5-2 triumph over Ghana in the tournament's opening match in Rabat. Ghana took an early lead courtesy of Emmanuel Pako Nakotey's goal. However, Zambia, quickly regrouped. Patrick Banda's goal just before halftime leveled the score, setting the stage for Zambia's dominance in the second half.
Zambia controlled possession and created numerous opportunities, they came close to scoring in the first half and as the second half began but it was Francis Chinyama who turned the game around in the second half, scoring a powerful goal from distance to put Zambia ahead. Shortly after, Wiseman Phiri capitalized on Prince Lungu's pass to extend Zambia's lead to 3-1.
Although Ghana managed to pull one back through Philip Nii Boye late in the game, Zambia quickly responded with goals from Mbalika Mwaliteta and Jackson Simwami, securing a comfortable victory and top spot in Group A. The win showcased Zambia's attacking prowess and solidified their position as contenders in the competition.
They face the hosts, morocco in their next match.
