LeBron James is NBA All-time Scorer after being the first player to reach the 40,000 mark.
The two-time Olympic gold medalist has set a new NBA record as he passes 40,000 points, having broken the career regular season record previously held by former Lakers' star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar who had 38,387. LeBron James is now the NBA's all-time top scorer and the first NBA player to reach and surpass the 40,000 career point (he currently has 40,248 career points and over 48,000 points in all NBA play).
He achieved this feat by scoring on a driving layup in the LA Lakers' home game against the Denver Nuggets, driving past Nuggets' Michael Porter with a spin and then making a left-hand lay up. On a night where the Lakers lost 124-114, James achieved this feat and entered the record books. He called it "bittersweet" since his team lost the match. James finished the match with 26 points.
Although James became the NBA’s all-time scoring leader more than a year ago, it was this year he surpassed the 40,000 mark.
Lebron James is undoubtedly one of the greatest NBA players of all-time. He is a four-time NBA champion and a four-time NBA Most Valuable Player (only 2 short of the record holder Kareem Abdul-Jabbar who has 6 to his name). He is currently the league’s oldest active player and is now in his 21st campaign.
Beginning his career as a teenager, he scored his first career point at Cleveland Cavaliers on October 29, 2003, against the Sacramento Kings. He reached 10,000 points in February 2008 ,20,000 points in January 2013 and James 30,000 points in January 2018. Now in March 2024, he has reached the 40,000th point and he's not done yet as the NBA star still eyes more successes with the NBA and USA national basketball team.
