FIFA FUTSAL WORLD CUP 2024: 3 MATCH WARM UP SERIES
The New Zealand National futsal team nicknamed futsal whites represents the New Zealand in International futsal. It's the first time the futsal whites will be playing in the FIFA futsal world cup.
Leading up to their inaugural participation in the FIFA Futsal World Cup this September, the Futsal Whites have organized a three-match series in Ho Chi Minh City against formidable opponents: IR Iran (FIFA rank 7), Morocco (FIFA rank 8), and hosts Vietnam (FIFA rank 38).
Scheduled from March 26th to April 1st at Lanh Binh Thang Stadium, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, the series offers a crucial test for the team. IR Iran and Morocco, renowned powerhouses in international futsal, both reached the quarter-finals in the 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup. Meanwhile, Vietnam seeks its third consecutive qualification for the FIFA Futsal World Cup and aims to build on its Round of 16 performance in 2021.
The Futsal Whites will commence their matches against Vietnam on March 28th, followed by encounters with IR Iran on March 30th and Morocco on March 31st. Head coach Marvin Eakins views this series as invaluable preparation for the upcoming FIFA Futsal World Cup, emphasizing the significance of facing top-tier competition to ready the squad for the global stage.
The New Zealand futsal team overcame Tahiti to win the OFC Futsal nations cup to represent Oceania region in this year's futsal world cup.
