WTA Qatar open 2024, is ongoing in Doha, Qatar. The Qatar open is scheduled to hold from 11th - 17th February, 2024. The competition this year features amazing talents like Iga Swatiek, Coco Gauff, Elena Rybakina, Lesia Tsurenko and One Jabeur to mention a few.
It is the first WTA 1000 event of the season. World No 1, Iga Swatiek, is the defending Champion, having won twice. She will be defending her title against promising opponents. Former world no 1, Naomi Osaka returns to the Doha court having played last in Doha in 2018 and will face Caroline Garcia . She'll be looking forward to bouncing back from a defeat at the Australian open where she was defeated by same opponent (Caroline Garcia).
Also, top seeds like Australian open Champion Aryna Sabalenka and last year's Qatar open runner up, Jessica Pegula will be missing the WTA 1000 event. Pegula withdrew due to a neck injury, while Sabalenka pulled out for her second year in a row.
(Iga swiatek is currently ranked as the world No. 1 in women's singles)
