Greek player Stefanos Tsitsipas, defeats Norwegian Casper Ruud to secure his hat-trick on Monte Carlo titles.
It was a close one at the opening stages as Ruud played really well to secure the title but Tsitsipas won in straight sets and joined Rafael Nadal, Bjorn Borg, Thomas Muster and Ilie Nastase in the list of players to win three or more titles at Monte Carlo. He did his in style as he became the first to win his first three Monte Carlo finals in straight sets (2021, 2022 and 2024)
"It's been a very difficult time for me, so to be back on the podium and winning, it's amazing," he said.
Tsitsipas' victory over world number 10, Ruud, takes him to seventh in the world rankings.
Tsitsipas fell to the ground after winning and expressed his gratitude to his friends. He further added that winning the third title was more special than the previous two.
Tsitsipas' defeated last year's winner Alexander Zverev and Australian open Champions Jannik Sinner to reach the final.
The 25-year old got his first title in 2024 after a slow start His last title was in August when he beat Alex de Minaur in the final at Los Cabos, Mexico. last August in the Mexico Open final.
