Two debutants - Mauritania's Mourabitones and the Brave 5 of Namibia faced off in the TotalEnergies CAF Futsal AFCON second Group B match. It was an unforgettable encounter as Mauritania clinched a thrilling 5-4 victory against Namibia in Group B. The match, held at the impressive Prince Moulay Abdellah Hall during the tournament's seventh edition, showcased the skills of these two newcomer teams.
Mauritania started strong, with captain Abderhemane Bouhoumadi scoring the opener. Despite Namibia's late resurgence with four second-half goals, Mauritania maintained their lead. Yakhouba Sylla's two quick goals extended their advantage, with Moudery Drame and M’hamed M’hamed contributing to the scoreline.
Both Morocco and Mauritania were victorious in Groups A an B respectively
Namibia's comeback attempts, including goals from Ken Salote, George Haikali, and Remario Mathys, added tension to the match. However, Mauritania's defense held firm, securing a hard-fought 5-4 victory. The win earned them three crucial points, putting them on same points with Egypt, who had earlier defeated Libya 4-0 and sit Top of the table.
