Japanese Tennis star, Naomi Osaka expressed excitement after making it to the top 200 in WTA rankings. The four-time major winner has had her spell in major tennis before she had to take a break due to her pregnancy.
Now a mother, Osaka obviously hopes to improve after every tournament and she tries to come to terms with the sports again. She said "I had dreams while I was pregnant of what I wanted to achieve and obviously losing in the first round of the Australian open wasn't part of that dream".
However, the former number one reached the quarter final in Doha during the Qatar open where she lost to Karolina Pliskova.
Naomi is the first Asian player to be ranked number 1 in the WTA singles. She has four grand slam singles, two Australian and US. open titles each to her name. In 2019, she became the only female to win two successive majors (U.S open and Australian open) since Jennifer Capriati in 2001. She secured top spot in 2019 but withdrew from the sport after her pregnancy. She returned after 15month at the Australian Open and also featured in the Qatar Open this year.
Naomi Osaka will be competing at the Indian Wells Masters where she'll face Italian tennis player, Sara Errani in the opening round.
