The NBA All-star weekend 2024 was a 3day event, packed with various contents, also featuring the NBA vs WNBA three-point contest, the very first of its kind.
The NBA all star weekend featured famous events like the slam dunk title, NBA three-point contest, skills challenge, rising stars challenge and the NBA All-star game where the eastern and western conference faced off. This year, Giannis Antetokounmpo captained the east while Lebron James captained the west.
Here are some highlights of the NBA all-star weekend.
Mac McClung wins second straight slam dunk title.
The player leaped over NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal and dunk the ball neatly into the net to defend his slam dunk title.
His leap earned him a perfect score of 50 from the judges who watched him take the ball from the 7feett 1 NBA legend’s hand to dunk it into the net successfully.
He defeated the likes of Jayla Brown (Boston Celtics), Jaime Jaquez Jr (Miami heat) and Jacob Toppin (New York Knicks).
This conquest makes him only the fifth player in the league history to successfully defend his title.
Damian Lillard Cruises
Damian Lillard produced an amazing performed last weekend to both defend his three-point contest title and secure the MVP award for the all-star game between eastern and western conference.
Three-point contest
Milwaukee bucks guard, Damian Lillard battled teammate Malik Beasley (Milwaukee buck), Jalen Brunson from New York knicks, Tyrese Haliburton of Indiana pacers, Lauri Markkanen (Utah jazz), Donovan Mitchell (Cleveland Cavaliers), Karl-Anthony Towns (Minnesota) and Trae young (Atlanta hawks) for the 2024 three-point contest title. Lillard secured his second straight title to become the second player to do so since Jason Kapono (2007-2008).
