After a wonderful display, the deaf Futsal world championship came to an end.
The Championship which held from Friday, 10th of November, 2023 to Sunday, 19th of November, 2023 in Brazil, ended with Iran and Japan emerging as the men's and women's champions respectively.
The final match for the women category was played on Saturday, 18th of November between Japan and Brazil to determine the Champion. After a final score of 4:4, Japan triumphed in the penalty shootout, with a 3-1 win.
The English deaf Futsal women team known as the para lionesses defeated Germany 1-0 to settle for bronze. This was the second time they played Germany at this year's tournament, at the previous meeting, England team won 5-3 in the group stages. The Japanese didn't just secure the silverware but both their male and female teams won the fair play awards.
In the men's category, Iran defeated Sweden 3-0 on penalties after a 1-1 draw at full time, taking their tally to three world championship titles (as the most successful team in this competition). Japan male futsal team took the bronze as they defeated Thailand 3-2.
